Richard Thomas to Leave Cymru Post

The Football Association of Wales can confirm that Richard Thomas has left his position as the Assistant Coach to the Cymru Women’s National team. He will be joining Colchester United as assistant manager in the EFL League Two.

Thomas joined the Cymru setup in 2021 after previously spending time in the men’s game as the academy manager at Watford FC, and as an assistant coach at Notts County.

During his time with Cymru, Thomas played a key role as the side reached the FIFA Women’s World Cup Play-Offs for the first time in their history.

“Richard was a great addition to the team when he joined 18 months ago, for both players and staff. He has been fantastic to work with, and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Gemma Grainger, Cymru Manager

The FAW would like to thank Thomas for his commitment and hard work in the Cymru setup over the last 18 months.
