Rodney Parade to host 2024 JD Welsh Cup and Bute Energy Welsh Cup finals

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) is pleased to announce that the finals of the 2023/24 JD Welsh Cup and Bute Energy Welsh Cup will both be held at Rodney Parade in Newport.

The final of the JD Welsh Cup, the third-oldest national cup competition in the world, will be held on Sunday 28 April (KO 17:25).

The finalists will be confirmed later this month, with the semi-finals pitting Connah’s Quay Nomads against Bala Town and Cardiff Met against The New Saints.

The final of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup will be held on Sunday 5 May (KO 17:25) between Cardiff City and Wrexham.

Tickets for the two finals are now on sale at faw.cymru/tickets

Both finals will be available to watch live on S4C and online – BBC iPlayer, S4C Clic and Sgorio’s Facebook and YouTube pages.

It will be the first time that Rodney Parade – home to EFL League Two side Newport County AFC and United Rugby Championship team Dragons RFC – has hosted the final of either of Wales’ most prestigious cup competitions.

Nick Davies, FAW Senior Competitions Manager, said: “The Welsh Cup Finals are a key moment in the domestic calendar and 2023/24 is no different.

“Taking the finals to one of our premier venues in Wales offers us the chance to give our prestigious Welsh Cup competitions the prominence and profile they deserve.

“We are excited to be working alongside staff at Rodney Parade to deliver two great occasions and I’m looking forward to seeing the finalists battle it out for our famous trophies.”
