Rowberry leaves elite coach education role

It has been confirmed that James Rowberry will leave his role as Head of Elite Coach Education at the Football Association of Wales to become Assistant Manager at Stoke City in the English Football League Championship.

Rowberry will however, continue in his role as Assistant Coach to Craig Bellamy with the Cymru Men’s National Team.

Rowberry started coaching at the age of 21 and became one of the youngest people to complete his UEFA Pro Licence at the age of 29.

Rowberry worked at Cardiff City for eight years, initially in the academy set-up prior to becoming a First Team Coach under several managers.

Following a period as Head Coach of his home town Newport County, Rowberry was appointed as the FAW’s Head of Elite Coach Education in February 2023 before Craig Bellamy added him to his coaching staff in August 2024.

Cymru return to action in March with FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Macedonia.
