The New Saints have been crowned back-to-back FAW Youth Cup champions after beating Penybont 5-2 at Park Avenue on Sunday.
The Saints went ahead inside the opening 60 seconds when Gwen Dafydd got on the end of Reece Warder’s cross and beat Penybont goalkeeper Jack Jenkins.
Penybont responded with seven minutes left of the first half as Will Flay curled home a stunning effort from 25 yards but Dafydd netted his second of the afternoon just before the break.
Robbie Palmer’s diving header then restored the Saints’ two-goal advantage inside the 79th minute before Josh Lock, who scored the winner in last season’s final against Flint Town United, teed up Dafydd to complete his hat-trick.
Saints substitute Owen Davies finished calmly over the Penybont goalkeeper to add a fifth for Simon Spender’s side. Fellow substitute Leo Roberts scored in stoppage time but the Saints had already done enough to get their hands on the trophy for the second consecutive season.
