UEFA Women’s EURO trophy touring the country

A general view of the UEFA Women's EURU trophy

The UEFA Women’s EURO trophy will be in Wales this week (23-30 March), visiting more than forty clubs and schools across the country.

The tour celebrates the first time that Cymru will be taking part in a major tournament in the women’s game, having reached this summer’s EURO finals in Switzerland. Rhian Wilkinson’s side will be facing the Netherlands, France and England this July as they aim to inspire the nation.

The tour will begin in north Wales on Sunday 23 March before travelling across and down the country, ending in the Cardiff area on Sunday 30 March. It will visit clubs and schools linked to key FAW Women’s and Girls’ grassroots programmes, as well as area association festivals.

Rhian Wilkinson says the clubs and schools involved in FAW programmes such as Huddle, UEFA Disney Playmakers, BE Football schools and BE.FC will hopefully be inspired by the visit.

“I’m really excited that we can bring this trophy across Wales to make sure young boys and girls are seeing it first hand, hopefully inspiring everyone ahead of this summer’s tournament in Switzerland and our upcoming Nations League matches in Cardiff and Swansea.”

Ahead of the EUROs in Switzerland, Cymru will continue their UEFA Women’s Nations League campaign over the next two months, facing Denmark at the Cardiff City Stadium (7:15pm Friday 4 April) and Italy at the Swansea.com Stadium (KO TBC Tuesday 3 June). Tickets for the match in Cardiff are available on the FAW ticketing website.
