All you need to know: U19 EURO Finals draw

Cymru are set to discover their opponents for the 2026 UEFA European Under-19 Championship finals, with the tournament draw taking place at Wrexham University on Thursday 16 April (12pm BST).

Hosts Cymru and the seven elite round winners will be split into two groups of four for the tournament, running from 28 June to 11 July.

The top two in each section progress to the semi-finals, while the competition will also act as UEFA’s qualifier for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

How the draw works

Hosts Cymru will be seeded as the first team in Group A (A1). The remaining teams will be drawn one after another without any further seeding. The draw order will be B1, A2, B2, A3, B3, A4 and B4.

The draw will be live streamed by the FAW on it’s RedWall+ streaming service and YouTube platform.

The match venues and additional training venues across North Wales have received significant funding in preperation for hosting U19 Euro.

Who is Cymru’s Head Coach? 

Cymru legend Chris Gunter will lead his country into the EURO finals following his appointment in January. A UEFA Pro Licence holder, Gunter brings a wealth of international experience to the role following an outstanding 15-year playing career with Cymru, during which he won 109 senior caps. 

Gunter was a central part of Chris Coleman’s side that captured the imagination of the nation by reaching the semi-finals of UEFA EURO 2016. He played every minute of all six matches at the tournament, memorably delivering the pinpoint cross for Sam Vokes’ header in the famous 3-1 quarter-final victory over Belgium. 

The former defender made his senior debut for Cymru in 2007 at just 17 years of age and went on to represent his country at three major tournaments, whilst becoming the first men’s player to reach 100 caps for Cymru.
