
The FAW Men’s & Women’s Tier 2 First Instance Body met on 5 May to assess the Tier 2 Licensing Applications for the 2026/27 season.
The Panel assessed 65 applicants for the men’s Tier 2 Certification. Fifty-seven of the 65 applications for a Tier 2 licence have been successful, including 31 of the current JD Cymru North and JD Cymru South clubs and 26 clubs in Tier 3.
The Panel assessed 26 applicants for the women’s Tier 2 Certification. Twenty of the 26 applications for a Tier 2 licence have been successful, including 13 of the current Genero Adran North and Genero Adran South clubs and seven clubs in Tier 3.
Clubs are assessed on the following criteria:

- Infrastructure
- Legal
- Personnel & Administration
- Financial
The FAW men’s & women’s Tier 2 Licence is required for clubs to participate in the JD Cymru North, Cymru South, Genero Adran North & Adran South for the 2026/27 season.
The Club Licensing system aims to assist the continual improvement and development of football clubs within Wales. Licensing is a transparent process that enables clubs to demonstrate to their stakeholders that they meet quality standards.
Following today’s meeting, the independent First Instance Body has decided on the following:

The FIB Panel extended its congratulations to those clubs successful in attaining Tier 2 licence.
Those clubs who have been refused a Licence by the First Instance Body, have ten days in which to submit an appeal with the appeals body meeting on the 19 May 2026.
