The Football Association of Wales’ prestigious Cymru Cup returns from 20–22 July at the University of South Wales, Treforest, bringing together the country’s most promising Under-14 players as they compete for the opportunity to earn selection for the Cymru Men’s Under-15 national team. All matches will be shown live on Cymru Football TV. Click here to register for free.
Now in its 16th year, the Cymru Cup represents the culmination of the FAW Regional Programme, which provides talented Welsh-eligible players with high-quality development opportunities across North and South Wales.
The tournament features three representative teams. Two squads are selected from players who have participated in the FAW Regional Programme, including Welsh-eligible players registered with English Football League academies, while a third team is selected from the leading players within the FAW National Academi system.
Across three days, the teams will compete in a three-match tournament, providing players with the opportunity to perform in a representative environment and showcase their potential on the national stage.
The Cymru Cup has become an important milestone within the Welsh player pathway, helping identify players for the Cymru Men’s Under-15 programme ahead of this autumn’s UEFA Development Tournament.
Over the past 15 years, the competition has played a significant role in the development of Welsh international footballers. Around 80% of the current Cymru senior men’s squad progressed through the FAW Regional Programme and featured in the Cymru Cup, including established internationals such as Harry Wilson, Brennan Johnson, Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Neco Williams and Jordan James, alongside emerging talents including Ronan Kpakio and Dylan Lawlor.
Where to watch
Supporters, families and clubs will be able to follow this year’s tournament live, with all three Cymru Cup matches free to watch on CymruFootball.TV (sign up required), offering the chance to watch the next generation of Welsh talent as they continue their journey towards representing Cymru.
