Pontypridd United vs Pontypridd AFC (Sunday, 14:00)

A repeat of last season’s Bute Energy Welsh Cup tie sees another Pontypridd derby take place, as Pontypridd United host Pontypridd AFC at USW Sports Park.

Pontypridd United have endured a difficult start to the Genero Adran South campaign, losing both of their opening matches following a disappointing season in the Genero Adran Premier last term. They progressed from the Genero Adran Trophy group stage on goal difference, with Robyn Lloyd proving their main attacking threat by scoring all three of their goals.

The dragons were knocked out in Round Two of last season’s Welsh Cup following a 2-1 defeat to Carmarthen Town, having beaten Pontypridd AFC in the opening round.

Pontypridd AFC have once again reached this stage after a convincing 4-1 away win over Abertillery Bluebirds. Brook Morgan scored twice in that victory and will be looking to make another impact, having netted 21 league goals last season.

Currently seventh in the SWWGL Division 1, Pontypridd AFC will be hoping a cup upset against their local rivals can provide a boost to their season.

Wrexham Foresters vs Hawarden Park (Sunday, 14:00)

An interesting clash between two recently-formed sides takes place in Wrexham on Sunday, as Wrexham Foresters host Hawarden Park at Clywedog Park.

Formed in 2025, Wrexham Foresters have already established themselves as a force in the Genero Adran North, currently sitting top of the table as they look to secure back-to-back promotions and reach the top flight. They have also kept four consecutive clean sheets in all competitions, with goalkeeper Chloe Ankers hoping to extend that impressive defensive record.

Ankers has only conceded one goal all season

Foresters received a bye into this round of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup, having been eliminated at this stage last season by Llandudno.

Hawarden Park were formed this summer and will be looking to make their mark in their debut Welsh Cup campaign. They made a statement in the previous round, cruising to a 9-0 victory over Amlwch Town.

Lexi Weaver and Farrah Aslam were the stars of that victory, scoring four goals apiece. The pair have continued their fine form in the league, with 13 goals between them, and will be key to Hawarden Park’s hopes of causing an upset against the in-form tier two leaders.

Hawarden Park have also made a solid start to life in the North East Wales League, currently sitting third in the table.

Caernarfon Town vs Guilsfield (Sunday, 14:00)

An intriguing tie awaits at Treborth Playing Fields on Sunday, as North Wales Coast League side Caernarfon Town host Central Wales League outfit Guilsfield in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup.

Caernarfon Town currently sit mid-table in the North Wales Coast League, having won one and lost one of their opening two matches.

The Cofis booked their place in this round in emphatic fashion, scoring 17 goals at home against Prestatyn Sports, with four players each claiming a hat-trick. Megan Williams will be one to watch, having contributed to a goal in each of her four senior appearances for the club so far.

Guilsfield, meanwhile, were only formed this year but have made an impressive start, winning every fixture they have played. They sit top of the Central Wales League, having scored an impressive 34 goals in four matches.

They also made a memorable start in their debut Bute Energy Welsh Cup campaign, securing an 8-5 away victory over Genero Adran North side Felinheli in the previous round. Ella Breese was instrumental in the win, registering seven goal contributions. The young striker has already scored 10 league goals this season and will be hoping to make another decisive impact on Sunday.

Goytre AFC vs Trefelin (Sunday, 14:00)

Another tie to keep an eye on takes place in Gwent, with an all-tier three clash between Goytre AFC and Trefelin at Plough Road.

Goytre caused an upset in Qualifying Round One by knocking out Genero Adran South side Cambrian United with an impressive 4-1 home victory. They will be hoping to go one step further this time around, having exited at this stage of last year’s competition following a narrow 2-1 defeat to Carmarthen Town.

Goytre have made an excellent start to their SWWGL campaign, winning all five of their opening fixtures and sitting just a point behind leaders Johnstown with a game in hand. They have scored 39 goals and conceded just four, with Lauren Daniels and Lyndsey Davies leading the way with eight goals apiece. Both were on target in the previous round and will be players to watch again.

Trefelin were equally impressive in the last round, cruising to a 12-1 victory over Skewen. They also caused an upset at this stage of last season’s competition, beating Cascade 3-1, before their run ended in Round One with a 14-0 defeat to eventual winners Cardiff City.

Their league form sees them with two wins and two defeats from their opening four matches leaving them mid-table. Young striker Carys Thomas has been a standout performer, scoring 11 goals in all competitions so far this season.

The sides finished third and fourth respectively in the league last season, with Trefelin edging Goytre by a point. Their two league meetings were split, with Trefelin winning 2-1 at Goytre before Goytre responded with a 6-0 victory away from home.
