Following the international window, Cymru Captain Aaron Ramsey has been presented with his UEFA A and Elite Youth A Licence.
Ramsey has been studying on the course over the past two years whilst coaching at Cardiff City, where he has been assessed, monitored and supported by his FAW Mentor, the FAW’s Chief Football Officer Dr. David Adams.
The course Ramsey has undertaken is framed within the FAW’s ‘Welsh Way’ principles of play, that gets coaches to have the capacity to plan and design meaningful practice and challenge their personal philosophy to develop the individual’s and team’s multi-disciplinary demands.
Speaking about the achievement, Aaron Ramsey said “I’ve found the UEFA A licence course to be a great learning experience, which has helped expand my understanding of football and coaching, and I would like to thank Dave Adams as my mentor over the last two years. I would recommend the FAW course education system to anyone looking to potentially go into coaching as a career option after playing professional football.”
Dr. David Adams said “We were delighted to support Aaron across his UEFA A Licence course. It was inspirational for the Cardiff City Academy U18s players to have Aaron working with them across his journey. I am convinced Aaron will utilise his skills and knowledge from the course, combined with his incredible experience as a player, and in the future successfully follow a path into coaching.”
The coaching course is delivered through flexible teaching methods with residential teaching and in-situ support between each contact session. The FAW’s highly skilled mentoring staff will challenge the individual needs of the coach within their own context.
