Applications open to become a BE.FC provider in 2025

The FAW launched BE.FC in October 2024. BE.FC is a recreational programme that enables teenage girls across Wales to join a community, play football and make friends. The FAW are now taking applications for new providers to join the programme in 2025.

BE.FC stands for BE. Football Community and aims to address the common dropout of girls from sports at age 13. Through extensive research and consultation, the FAW created a programme specifically tailored to the needs of teenage girls.

Joining the BE.FC Programme is free of charge, and the FAW are recruiting new providers to join the programme. Applications are open until Friday 9th May 2025, and the FAW encourages all clubs not currently participating in the programme to apply. Click here to apply.

BE.FC helps clubs expand their recreational offering and is designed for girls aged 12-16 to enjoy football in a relaxed social setting. BE.FC welcomes all skill levels, promotes a healthy lifestyle and supports personal development. It offers a pressure-free space for both new and returning players.

Support for providers:

  • Branded equipment & session resources
  • National promotional support
  • Ongoing FAW assistance, including BE.FC training
  • Access to a national data platform

“BE. FC has been positive for us. It’s great to offer recreational turn up and play opportunities for teenage girls in Merthyr. The marketing templates & concept designs are also great.”

Gayle Penn National Women & Girls Participation Manager said:

“We know girls have increased pressures upon reaching their teenage years, and it is imperative we support them through this to allow them to continue and thrive within physical activity. BE.FC has been designed by teenage girls across Wales and will allow all girls to interact with football, meet like-minded people, and enjoy football in a relaxed environment.

“BE.FC is tailored to support girls and clubs every step of the way and with a massive summer ahead for women’s football in Wales, we want to ensure we have opportunities for every girl across Wales to enjoy football.”

To help determine if you qualifies for the scheme, there is a BE.FC criteria document HERE. You are also invited to contact the team at girlsfootball@faw.cymru with any queries.
