Cambrian United forward Tim Parker wins JD Welsh Cup Player of the Round

Cambrian United forward Tim Parker has been selected as the Player of the Round for the JD Welsh Cup Quarter-Finals.

The Rhondda side reached the semi-finals of the competition for the first time in their history with a 3-1 home win over Carmarthen Town, with Parker scoring twice.

The game was goalless until the 69th minute, when Parker broke the deadlock by heading home Calum Bateman’s cross. He then doubled the lead seven minutes later by tapping in from close range after Josh Allen’s shot was parried by Lee Idzi.

Parker was also involved in Cambrian’s third goal two minutes later, when this time it was his shot parried by Idzi, leaving Bateman with a simple header from close range.

Cambrian United will now meet nine-time JD Welsh Cup winners The New Saints in the semi-finals on the weekend of 14-16 March.
