Chirk AAA teenage debutant wins JD Welsh Cup Player of the Round

Chirk AAA forward Jayden Sheil has been selected as the Player of the Round for the JD Welsh Cup first qualifying round.

16-year-old Sheil made his senior debut for Chirk in their tie away at Felinfach and put his side 2-1 ahead before they eventually won 3-1.

It was a proud moment for Sheil’s family, with the youngster following in the footsteps of his great-grandfather Pat (pictured below) in playing for Chirk AAA.

Jayden will hope to have similar success to Pat, who won a youth cap for Cymru in 1953 – the same year he won the FAW Youth Cup with Chirk. He would go on to also lift the FAW Amateur Trophy with the club in 1959 and 1960.

Chirk AAA will discover their second qualifying round opponents in the draw on RedWall+ at 8pm on Wednesday evening.
