Cymru have arrived in Switzerland for EURO 2025 in what is an historic time for Women’s football in Wales.
For the first time in their history, the national team will compete in a major tournament. They defeated the Republic of Ireland in the play-offs in December, and will get to face the Netherlands, France and England over the coming weeks.
Their opening match will be against the Netherlands – winners of the 2017 edition – with the game taking place on Saturday, June 5 at 17:00 GMT.
Head coach Rhian Wilkinson has named a 23-player squad, featuring some of the most iconic names in Welsh football. Among them are all-time appearance maker and record goal scorer Jess Fishlock, team captain Angharad James, and the influential Sophie Ingle.
Joining the squad as training players are Tianna Teisar, Mary McAteer, and Scarlett Hill. While they will be unavailable to choose from, they’ll gain valuable experience of life on camp at a major international tournament.

Over 2,000 supporters are expected to travel and cheer on Cymru during their three group stage matches, making them one of the most supported nations at EURO 2025. Back home, thousands more are showing their support through the Ein Crys Cymru campaign – symbolised by a giant inflatable Cymru shirt printed with the names of the selected squad members.
This tournament marks the culmination of a long journey. Veterans like Fishlock, Ingle, James, and Hayley Ladd have all earned over 100 caps and played a vital role in reaching this milestone.
The EURO 2025 qualifying campaign began in April 2024, and now Cymru stand ready to take their place on the biggest stage in European football.
