Kosovo 0-6 Cymru
- Rhian Wilkinson’s team make perfect start to qualifiers
- Jess Fishlock makes her 150th appearance
- Cymru top their qualification group
Cymru have made the perfect start to the European Qualifiers with the win in Kosovo off the back of victory over Croatia. Rhian Wilkinson’s team have scored 10 goals across those matches with no reply.
The win against Kosovo was the perfect way to honour Jess Fishlock’s incredible achievement of being capped for the 150th time and she notched up two excellent assists to get Cymru on their way in this match.
Kosovo had frustrated Cymru but the deadlock was broken on 30 minutes when Josie Green passed to Jess Fishlock who supplied the assist for Rachel Rowe to open the scoring.
The lead was doubled when Fishlock played a wonderful through ball for the well timed run by Kayleigh Green, who applied an incredibly calm finish to net Cymru’s second goal.
Wilkinson’s team continued to dominate in the second half as she made full use of her squad, giving as many players as possible the chance for a run out.
On the hour mark Rowe linked well with Angharad James before unleashing a shot from the edge of the box to put the game well out of Kosovo’s reach.
Moments later it was Ffion Morgan who got the ball in the net as she finished well from a cross to the far post from Rowe. Cymru were well deserving of their 4-0 lead.
More goals were to come as Cymru notched up their biggest away win since 2006 as Elise Hughes netted twice to make it 6-0 before the full-time whistle was blown.
The performance, goals and clean sheet will all have been boxes to tick on Wilkinson’s ‘To Do’ list for the game and her players achieved every task.
