Cymru’s opening game in the UEFA U17 EURO finals ended in a 2-0 defeat against Denmark.
Goals either side of half time from Chidozie Obi and Sofus Johannesen were enough as the Danes came out on top in Larnaca.
Craig Knight’s side were drawn into a physical battle in their own half for the majority of the first half, but managed to stand their ground and kept the Danes at bay until stoppage time.
Denmark broke the deadlock in open play as Obi rounded Cymru goalkeeper Luis Lines and calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net.
Minutes into the second half, Denmark doubled the lead through Johannesen. As Cymru looked to play out of the back, a misplaced pass flew towards the head of Johannesen, who made no mistake in finding the back of the net with his header.
Despite the early second half setback, Cymru quickly settled into the second half and made opportunities of their own. The strongest of the chances came to full back Jac Thomas, who forced a diving save from Tobias Breum-Harild.
Cymru will look to bounce back on Thursday when they face Austria at Ammochostos in Larnaca (KO 18:30).
