The Football Association of Wales has been honoured at the Institute of Directors (IoD) Wales Director of the Year Awards as CEO, Noel Mooney was named Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Director of the Year.
The awards took place at the ICC Wales venue in Newport on 17 May, but with Noel Mooney attending the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok, FAW Chair Alys Carlton, independent non-executive board member, Sameer Rahman and Senior Equality, Diversity, Inclusion & Sustainability Manager, Jason Webber accepted the award in his absence.
The IoD Director of the Year Awards celebrates the achievements of outstanding business leaders in society. Hosted annually, the awards are given to those who excel in areas such as innovation, sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion, and more.
The IoD is a membership community for directors in the UK and beyond, where they can connect with other leaders, develop their skills and be heard.
Prior to the awards, IoD stated: ‘Diversity and inclusion within any business are key factors in determining organisational success. Over the years many organisations have worked hard to embrace diversity within their workplaces and create an environment where everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race or cultural background or disability, can flourish and succeed.’
As Chief Executive, Noel Mooney has ensured Equality, Diversity & Inclusion is at the heart of the ‘Ein Cymru /Our Wales’ strategy and in driving forward the ‘PAWB’ plan to ensure the FAW evolves rapidly towards a fully representative movement, embracing every culture, community and diverse voices. At the FAW, Noel Mooney has created an environment that is open to challenge and feedback, and is focussed on achieving the strategic objectives.
Therefore, this award represents the work of the Football Association of Wales as a whole.
