FAW Launches PAWB Mentoring Programme

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) has launched the PAWB Mentoring Programme. This new entry-level programme aims to support and inspire individuals from Black, Asian, Mixed-Heritage, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds who are interested in exploring opportunities within football.

Starting in April 2025 and running for six months, the programme offers participants mentorship, networking opportunities, hands-on experiences, and skill development workshops. If you’re passionate about football, this programme will offer a great introduction to pursuing a role in the sport. No previous experience is required, just enthusiasm and a desire to learn and grow. Learn more about the programme, the session dates and how to apply here.

FAW Equality Advisory Group Chair, Sean Wharton said: “The PAWB Mentoring Programme is a vital initiative in the Football Association of Wales’ commitment to increasing representation and inclusion within the game. By providing mentorship, networking opportunities, and hands-on experience, this programme will empower individuals from Black, Asian, Mixed-Heritage, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds to take their first steps into football. We are proud to support this programme, which will help break down barriers and develop the next generation of diverse talent in Welsh football.”

FAW Senior EDI and Sustainability Manager, Jason Webber added: “The PAWB Mentoring Programme aims to open doors and create opportunities. We want to support and inspire individuals from Black, Asian, Mixed-Heritage, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds to take their first step into football. With hands-on experience, mentorship, and networking opportunities, this programme is designed to help participants build confidence, skills, and connections towards a future in the game.”

Applications are now open and will close on Friday, 21st March 2025. The programme is free and open to individuals aged 18 and above from Black, Asian, Mixed-Heritage, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.
