Hannah Cain revealed her delight at getting back on the scoresheet again as she helped Cymru to an emphatic 6-1 victory over Montenegro in World Cup qualifying.
The Cymru forward netted her third goal in two games, alongside strikes from Mared Griffiths, Rachel Rowe and Sophie Ingle, as Rhian Wilkinson’s side scored five first-half goals without reply.
Griffiths added her second of the game late on in her first competitive start for Cymru, after Armisa Kuč had pulled one back for the visitors.
But despite the late consolation, Wilkinson’s side moved top of Group B1 ahead of challengers Czechia on goal difference as they continued their unbeaten start to 2026.
“I’m really happy and chuffed to get on the scoresheet again,” Cain said. “It was a positive performance with loads of goals and hopefully we take that into next camp now.
“It’s been a positive week overall. We obviously would have liked to have got the win in the first game, but we know it’s a difficult place to go away to. It’s one that we take and move forward to the next game now with momentum.
“I think, as Haz [Angharad James] said in her press conference this week, we wanted to get five wins. Now we’ve got four more to tick off, so we go again.”

Cain had already impressed earlier in the week, earning player of the match in Cymru’s opening qualifying match against Czechia on Tuesday.
She scored a vital equaliser just before half-time to level the match at 1-1, helping her side battle to a credible 2-2 draw against the group’s top seeds.
And after another strong display against Montenegro, Cain was once again named player of the match and couldn’t hide her delight at full-time.
“It doesn’t get better, no not really,” she laughed. “I’m really happy and I’m really proud. It could have been anyone tonight as they were all outstanding, so it makes it extra special that I was the player to get it. But it’s a team performance and I won’t have got the goals without my teammates.
“I love scoring and I want to score all the time. When you score for you country it’s an amazing feeling and it’s also a lot more special. I’m just happy to get on the scoresheet and to help the team once again.”
More than 4,500 fans turned out for Cymru’s first international match at Parc y Scarlets in almost two years, and Cain was delighted her side could reward supporters with a sensational attacking display.
“They’re incredible as they always are with us. When we were out in the EUROs I think they were the loudest fan base there and it shows every single time that we play, whether we are here or in EUROs. Hopefully we can get to the World Cup and hear them again.”
