Following multiple shock exits in the last round, there are more eye-catching ties on the way in the JD Welsh Cup this weekend.

Afan Lido v Morriston Town (Friday, 7:30pm)
Round Three kicks off with a solitary game on Friday night, as third tier Morriston Town make the short journey to JD Cymru South strugglers Afan Lido.
Morriston, currently fourth in the Ardal South West, have already knocked out JD Cymru South opposition as they defeated Llantwit Major on penalties in the last round when goalkeeper Steven Cann – who has had two previous spells at Afan Lido – saved four spot-kicks and also scored one of his own.
Lido also needed penalties in their Round Three tie, defeating Cardiff Corinthians from the spot after a thrilling 3-3 draw in 90 minutes.
Lido – who reached the final of the JD Welsh Cup in 2007 – are currently bottom of the JD Cymru South, but picked up their first win under new boss Garry Taylor last weekend as they triumphed 4-1 over Cwmbran Celtic.
Holyhead Hotspur v Trearddur Bay (Saturday, 2pm)
Holyhead Hotspur caused one of the shocks of the last round as they knocked out top-flight Caernarfon Town on penalties to reach Round Three for the first time in six years.
Their reward is another mouthwatering local derby against fellow third tier side Trearddur Bay, who won 2-1 away at Llannefydd in Round Two.
Holyhead are currently sixth in the Ardal North West table, four points better off than ninth-place Trearddur Bay but Bay are in better form having won four of their last five games in all competitions.
The two sides last met on the opening day of the league season in July, when goals from Dylan Summers-Jones and Kane Roberts earned Holyhead a 2-0 win.
Penydarren v Carmarthen Town (Saturday, 2pm)
Penydarren are one of only three sides from the fourth tier left in this season’s competition, alongside Rogerstone and Pill.
The South Wales Premier League Premier Division outfit caused a shock in the last round as they won 2-0 over JD Cymru South high flyers Pontypridd United and their reward is a home tie against 2007 JD Welsh Cup winners Carmarthen Town.
The Old Gold staged a remarkable comeback in Round Two as they trailed 3-0 against Penrhiwceiber Rangers before scoring four goals in the final half an hour to win 4-3.
Mark Aizlewood’s side have struggled for form in the league of late though, picking up just one point from their last four matches to slip to ninth in the table.
Trefelin v Connah’s Quay Nomads (Saturday, 2pm)
JD Welsh Cup holders Connah’s Quay Nomads continue their defence of the trophy with a trip south to face Trefelin.
The Nomads, currently eighth in the JD Cymru Premier, kicked off their cup campaign with a comfortable 5-0 win over Guilsfield in Round Two.
Trefelin are currently fourth in the JD Cymru South and had been on an eight-match unbeaten run in all competitions before a 2-0 midweek defeat to Caerau Ely. 48-year-old Lee Trundle has seven goals in his last eight games, including one in the 5-0 win over Newport Corinthians in the previous round of the cup.
These two sides also met in Round Three in the 2021/22 season, when Jamie Insall’s double helped the Nomads to a 4-0 win at Ynys Park.
Ammanford v Haverfordwest County (Saturday, 2:20pm)
After their 1-0 win over Aberystwyth Town in the last round, Ammanford are targeting another cup upset as they host Haverfordwest County.
Ammanford are currently 11th in the JD Cymru South after back-to-back defeats, but manager Wyn Thomas – a former Haverfordwest County player – has strong connections to the JD Welsh Cup having won it with Llanelli Town in 2011.
Haverfordwest County are flying high in the JD Cymru Premier as they sit third in the table, but only narrowly avoided a cup shock in the last round as they edged past JD Cymru South leaders Trethomas Bluebirds on penalties.
These two sides also met in Round Three last season, when goals from Ricky Watts and Martell Taylor-Crossdale earned a 2-0 victory for Haverfordwest at Ogi Bridge Meadow.
