Laughter, language and music with Holland & Jones

In the second episode of The Cwtsh, connected by EE, Ceri Holland and Carrie Jones take a joyful detour from football, offering fans a personal glimpse into life inside the Cymru camp as preparations continue for UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.

Filmed at the team’s training base in Switzerland, the episode is packed with personality, humour and heartfelt moments that highlight the strong bonds and shared pride running through the Cymru squad.

The episode opens with the pair recounting their off-pitch adventures—exploring the stunning Swiss landscape and enjoying a competitive round or two of golf. Their close friendship and relaxed energy set the tone, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere for viewers.

Dau-O-Lingo: A Cultural Exchange

A highlight comes with the playful language segment “Dau-O-Lingo,” where Carrie, fluent in Welsh, teaches Ceri essential footballing terms such as cic gosb (penalty), cic gornel (corner) and camsefyll (offside). In return, Ceri shares a few phrases in Swiss German, making for a light-hearted and entertaining cultural exchange.

The segment is filled with tongue-twisters, laughter, and a deep appreciation for each other’s roots.

Reflecting on her own journey with the language, Holland shared: “I think cwtsh was the first actual Welsh word I ever learned. My mum always says, ‘Ah, let’s come for a cwtsh,’ and my granddad used to be like a bigger cwtsh. It means quite a lot.”

Jones added: “A cwtsh is a big thing on camp—everyone needs that at some point.”

Ceri’s Music School: From Matchday Anthems to Keyboard Chords

Later in the episode, Ceri’s Music School gives fans a glimpse of Ceri’s hidden talent off the pitch.

Sitting at the keyboard, she performs a few well-known melodies and teaches Carrie how to play the chords to Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau and Yma o Hyd—two powerful anthems that echo across stadiums from the voices of Y Wal Goch on matchday.

This musical moment adds a patriotic and emotional layer to the episode, underlining the squad’s connection to their heritage and the support that fuels them.

Home Support and Iconic Symbols

The episode also features uplifting video messages from fans back home in Cymru, reminding the players of the incredible support back home. Wrapping up the episode, the duo discuss iconic Welsh symbols—from bucket hats to groggs—that reflect the pride and personality of the team and its supporters.
