Match officials confirmed for 2024 JD Welsh Cup final

Bryn Markham-Jones will lead the 2024 JD Welsh Cup Final match officials at Rodney Parade on Sunday 28 April.

The clash between Connah’s Quay Nomads and The New Saints will represent Markham-Jones’ second JD Welsh Cup Final as Referee, having officiated Welsh football’s showpiece occasion in 2016 when TNS won 2-0 against Airbus UK Broughton at the Racecourse.

Assistant Referee Ceri Williams will make history by becoming the first woman ever to appear as a match official in a JD Welsh Cup Final. Williams’ appointment has been well-earned, having spent three seasons as a JD Cymru Premier match official while also representing Wales on the world stage as an Assistant Referee in the latter stages of the UEFA Women’s Champions League and in the UEFA Women’s Nations League.

Like Williams, Assistant Referee Ashley Davis also makes his JD Welsh Cup Final debut. Davis has made a name for himself as a consistent performer in the JD Cymru Premier across numerous seasons and appeared as an Assistant Referee in the 2022 Nathaniel MG Cup Final between Cardiff Met University and Connah’s Quay Nomads at Penybont’s SDM Glass Stadium.

Fourth Official Aaron Jones began his top-flight career as an Assistant Referee, appearing in the 2016 Dragon Signs Amateur Trophy Final. Jones then chose to swap the flag for the whistle, with his performances quickly earning him a return to the JD Cymru Premier as a Referee. Since then, his hard work has been rewarded with appointments to the 2022 FAW Youth Cup Final and 2023 Welsh Blood Service League Cup National Final.

Reserve Assistant Referee Richard Dolphin is also a JD Cymru Premier regular and was appointed to last season’s Welsh Blood Service League Cup Northern Final, as well as the 2023 Ardal Leagues Northern Play-Off Final between Bangor 1876 and Cefn Albion.
