Double ticket offer for Cymru WEURO matches

Matty Jones and Cymru U21 duo visit Newport primary school

Cymru U21 head coach Matty Jones, Matt Baker and Cian Ashford surprised pupils at a primary school in Newport on Wednesday.

The trio were joined by representatives from County in the Community – Newport County’s charitable arm – at a weekly football session at Maesglas Primary School.

Pupils from Year 3 were given the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with Jones, Baker and Ashford about their experiences in football.

Jones’ side welcome Iceland on Thursday 16 November (6pm KO), before they take on Denmark for the second time in the campaign four days later on Monday 20 November (6pm KO).

Baker and Ashford joined in with the football session before the children were presented with tickets for Cymru’s upcoming UEFA European U21 qualifiers against Iceland and Denmark at Rodney Parade later this month.

Cymru sit second in Group I after earning a 2-2 draw with top seeds Denmark, a 3-2 victory over Lithuania and a late 1-1 draw with Czechia in their last outing in September.

Tickets for the qualifiers are available to purchase at faw.cymru/tickets, while both matches will be available to watch on Sgorio.

Head coach Matty Jones said: “We always have a warm welcome when we visit Newport and that’s why we wanted to make Rodney Parade our home for this qualifying campaign.

“It was brilliant to engage with the pupils during their session and it’s important for myself and the players to give back to a community which has been so welcoming to us.

“We had a great number of people come out and support us in our friendly against Liechtenstein in September and we would love to see as many as we can in attendance for the upcoming matches.

“We saw a lot of clubs and schools through the gates and the value of group bookings for these games is great, so hopefully that will encourage people to support us on our qualifying journey.”

Local schools and football clubs who submit group bookings for the qualifiers against Iceland and Denmark will be entered into a special prize draw with exciting prizes to be won.

How to enter

Those that enter their ticket application before Tuesday 14 November will be entered into a draw to win a ball signed by the Cymru U21 squad, an opportunity to attend a Cymru U21 training session or mascot places to walk out with Cymru U21 at a future home fixture.

Group bookings can be made by filling in the group booking forms below and submit them to tickets@faw.co.uk.
