The coaching staff for the Cymru Men’s age group teams has been confirmed for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
Jon Grey will take charge of the MU18 side that begin their 2026/27 UEFA U19 EURO qualifiers in March. Cymru are in League A for Round One of the qualifying campaign and will face France, Hungary and hosts Switzerland during the March international window.
Grey will combine the role with a new opportunity as Loans and Player Pathway Manager at Swansea City, meaning that he will be stepping down as Assistant Coach of the Cymru Women’s National Team, a role he started in 2023.
Chris Gunter continues to lead the MU17s side which will face Georgia, Andorra and hosts San Marino in April as they look to get promoted from League B for the UEFA U17 EURO Round 2 qualifiers.
As previously announced, Gunter will also take charge of the MU19 team for this summer’s UEFA U19 EURO finals which will take place in north Wales. The side will also take meet up in the March FIFA international window, avoiding an overlap with the MU17s’ UEFA EURO qualifiers.
The Cymru MU16 and MU15 teams will continue to be led by Adrian Harvie and Drew Sherman respectively. The sides will continue their development with UEFA development tournaments and other mini tournaments across Europe.
With Jon Grey stepping down as the Cymru Women’s National Team Assistant Coach, Rhian Wilkinson thanked Grey for his contributions and commitment to the team. “Jon Grey has been an integral part of the women’s program over the past few years, and I would like to formally recognise and thank him for his dedication and contribution.
“It is no surprise that his time with the program has coincided with a period of unprecedented success for the team, this speaks to the calibre of coach and professional that Jon is.
“Diolch, Jon, for everything you’ve done for the program, and for the support you’ve provided to me personally. It has been a pleasure working with you over the past few years.”
Speaking about the appointments, the FAW’s Chief Football Officer Dr. David Adams added: “I am delighted to announce the staff across the youth pathway.
“We are committed to providing a world class environment for the development of our players and having high quality UEFA Pro Licence coaches across all age groups is fundamental to ensuring the continued success of consistently graduating players into our Men’s National Team.”
