Cymru welcome Montenegro to Cardiff for match day four of the UEFA Nations League on Monday (14 October) following a 2-2 draw in Iceland that saw Brennan Johnson and Jordan James receive bookings that will rule them out of the latest encounter.
There have been four previous meetings between Cymru and Montenegro, with Cymru winning the last two fixtures which were played 13 years apart.
Montenegro have also claimed two victories over Cymru, winning 2-1 in a friendly in August 2009 before repeating their success a year later with a 1-0 win in UEFA EURO qualifying.
Goals from Steve Morison and Aaron Ramsey sealed a 2-1 win for Cymru under the late Gary Speed in September 2011, before Kieffer Moore and Harry Wilson delivered for Craig Bellamy’s side last month to repeat the scoreline.
Cymru striker Moore has played down the suspensions to Brennan Johnson and Jordan James ahead of the Montenegro match: “We’re without players on Monday but it’s a squad game and we’ve got some really good players to come in. I’m sure they’ll take their chances when they get them.
“We’ve scored four goals away from home and that’s what we’re about. We’re a high-press, high-attacking team and when we do get those chances in that style of play it’s exciting. It gets people on their feet but sometimes it can work against you as well.
“It’s still in our hands. We’re still unbeaten and we look forward to Monday.”
