A group of world class coaches have followed in the footsteps of superstars Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Tim Cahill by completing the FAW UEFA Pro Licence course.
The 2022/23 cohort, which included Real Madrid Assistant Manager Davide Ancelotti, Wales international Neil Taylor and Socceroo Mile Jedinak, who has since joined the Tottenham Hotspur coaching staff, have now completed their exit interviews and are on their way to graduating from the course.
During their 18 months of high level learning, the candidates visited Premier League clubs Liverpool and Crystal Palace, received unique insights from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, Glasgow Rangers boss Michael Beale and Vieira, who is now in charge of Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg.
They also completed live tasks such as press conferences, job interviews and half time team talk assessments, while they were tested to their limits with SAS leadership training and given world class coaching from former Saachi and Saachi CEO Kevin Roberts.
The course concluded with an exit interview for each candidate before they complete a series of post course tasks, including studying manager, producing a special report and completing a study visit.
FAW Chief Football Officer Dr David Adams said: “The principal of the exit interview process is to consolidate each individual’s learning journey and to challenge their ideas of approaching the complex role of successfully navigating a role as a head coach.”
