
Spain were crowned champions of the UEFA Under-19 European Championship for the tenth time after a goal either side of the interval secured a 2-0 victory against Germany at the Racecourse Ground.
Both sides battled well in the opening stages, but it was Germany who could could claim the better of the early opportunities, with Otto Stange forcing two excellent stops from Manu González on nine minutes and 29 minutes.
Spain almost found the opener on 38 minutes as Xavi Espart excellently dribbled with the ball and found Hugo López, but his lobbed shot was denied by the crossbar.
Not long after, the breakthrough did come for Spain on 43 minutes when Thiago Pitarch chipped the ball forward to Daniel Yáñez whose initial effort ricocheted off the goalpost and into the path of López to slide it into the back of the net and find his goal.

Three minutes after half-time, Spain doubled their advantage through Mario Rivas getting on the end of a Yáñez corner after Germany goalkeeper Florian Hellstern made an excellent save to stop a long-range strike from Andrés Cuenca.
Germany worked hard to try to find some goals of their own, with an effort from Moritz Reimers almost rolling over the line on 57 minutes, as well as a flurry of shots from Jykese Fields and Francis Onyeka, but Spain did well to defend resiliently and retain their clean sheet.
The result sees Spain lift another UEFA Under-19 European Championship in impressive fashion, securing their tenth title without conceding a goal during their campaign in North Wales, while scoring at least two goals in each one of their games during the tournament.
