A convincing and largely comfortable 4-0 win for Slovakia despite Cymru naming a stronger and more experienced starting line-up to the team that were held by Gibraltar

Cymru had a decent period of possession and pressure before half-time but Slovakia went in a goal ahead and took control in the second half to add a further three goals.

Another frustrating night for Rob Page who could only watch on as his side struggled to defend against an impressive Slovakian outfit who will be confident of making an impression in Germany at EURO 2024.

Slovakia took the lead just before half-time as Juraj Kucka beat Danny Ward from distance. The opening goal came just as Cymru were enjoying their best period of the game.

Slovakia doubled their lead as Róbert Boženík got in front of Ethan Ampadu to finish off a fine ball from Dávid Hancko.

Boženík appeared to score his second of the game to make it 3-0 to Slovakia on the hour mark although Ethan Ampadu was judged to have had the final touch.

Cymru were then dealt a gut wrenching blow late on as substitute László Bénes made it 4-0 with the final kick of the game with a curling long-range effort.
