Clubs from the third tier of Welsh football and below enter the competition in the first qualifying round – with the exception of three Ardal Leagues clubs (Abertillery Bluebirds, Pontardawe Town and Porthmadog) who receive a bye to the second qualifying round based on their 2023/24 final league positions.

The eight JD Cymru North clubs and eight JD Cymru South clubs who finished lowest in 2023/24 enter this season’s JD Welsh Cup in round one, while the eight JD Cymru North clubs and eight JD Cymru South clubs who finished highest in 2023/24 enter in round two alongside the 12 JD Cymru Premier clubs.

The JD Welsh Cup first qualifying round draw is split into the Northern section and Southern section.

The 106 clubs in the Northern section have been randomly split into two separate pots – one made up of 52 clubs and another made up of 54 clubs. Clubs will be drawn against another club in the same pot as them.

Meanwhile, the 112 clubs in the Southern section have been randomly split into two separate pots of 56 clubs each. Clubs will be drawn against another club in the same pot as them.
