The Football Association of Wales (FAW) is proud to continue its support of the Level Playing Field’s Unite For Access campaign which is an annual period of inspiration and celebration of good access and inclusion at sports venues.

The campaign runs this year from Saturday 1 March to Sunday 16 March, with a focus on raising awareness and driving equality for a more inclusive matchday experience for disabled sports fans.

To improve the experiences of disabled supporters the FAW offer several services at the Cymru national team matches and Domestic Cup finals. During Cymru fixtures, fans can access free audio descriptive commentary, where trained audio describers will keep up with play to the second to ensure listeners know exactly where the ball is and what is happening on the pitch.

At the Cardiff City Stadium, Cymru fans can book into the stadium’s sensory room, which has been designed to accommodate the needs of children and young people with additional sensory needs or sensitivities.

For Fans with sensory needs a free FAW Sensory Pack has been designed to support fans, to enhance the matchday experience by making it more comfortable and enjoyable.

As the FAW continues to strive to improve facilities across Wales, Clubs across the country can now undertake their own evaluation of their accessibility of facilities at their Club by using the FAW’s Accessibility Evaluation Toolkits for Professional, Amateur and Grassroots Clubs across Wales. As part of the Unite For Access campaign, the JD Welsh Cup semi-final between Cambrian United and The New Saints and the Bute Energy Welsh Cup semi-final between The New Saints and Cardiff City – both at Park Avenue on Sunday 16 March – will be dedicated Level Playing Field fixtures.

Level Playing Field Chief Executive, Owain Davies, said: “We are pleased to have the support of the FAW, for this year’s Unite For Access campaign. After a strong start last weekend, we are now set to have six separate celebrations at clubs across Wales in the next week.

“Each year, the campaign presents an opportunity for us to all come together, to focus on access and inclusion for disabled fans. I ask everyone to get involved, but also to carry this momentum forward and ensure accessibility remains a priority.”

Fans and clubs across all sports can engage with the Unite for Access campaign, by raising awareness and building relationships in different ways. For any questions please reach out to: info@levelplayingfield.org.uk
