Nineteen FAW Girls’ Academy players selected for UEFA Tournament

Nineteen players from the FAW Girls’ Academy system have been selected as part of the twenty-player squad for the upcoming UEFA WU15 UEFA Development Tournament in England.

Cymru will face England, Norway and Greece in fixtures taking place between Saturday 4 – Thursday 9 November. Starting at the U15 level, UEFA’s youth development tournaments provide elite young players with the perfect opportunity to showcase their talents and gain vital international experience.

Introduced in 2021 as part of the FAW’s strategy to develop clear and effective pathways for progression, the FAW Girls’ Academy increases the contact time with our elite girls and provides a competitive games programme for them to develop.

The change means that the FAW Girls’ Academy squads benefit from increased training sessions and tailor-made programmes based on the needs of the individual. North and South Wales U14 and U16 girls’ regional squads also compete against elite boys, as the FAW Trust Girls’ Academy, in the Cymru Licensed Academy Games Programme.
