Wrexham secured their spot in back-to-back Bute Energy Welsh Cup finals with a 4-0 win over Pontypridd United at Latham Park.

It took the Reds just six minutes to break the deadlock as Carra Jones delivered a corner from the right which was met by Abbie Iddenden, who headed beyond Amelia Forkings.

A piece of good fortune doubled the lead on 25 minutes as Lili Jones’ pass forward was sliced into her own net by Pontypridd defender Lucy Jones.

A third goal arrived only four minutes later, with Brooke Cairns playing a neat one two with Iddenden, who cut the ball back for the midfielder to finish clinically.

Despite the scoreline, Ponty continued to threaten going forward with Lauren Payne and Nicole Fenton willing runners for balls over the top.

However, Wrexham ultimately sealed victory with their fourth goal 11 minutes into the second half as Forkings could only parried Cairns’ cross onto Iddenden who gratefully completed her brace.

Steve Dale’s side will now return to Rodney Parade for the Bute Energy Welsh Cup final on Sunday 27 April, where they will face either The New Saints or Cardiff City.
