Stadiums across north Wales to host UEFA U19 EURO Elite Round

Three stadiums across the north will host the UEFA U19 EURO Elite Round during the March international window, with all of Cymru’s matches being shown live by S4C and Sgorio.

The Bangor City Stadium will host Cymru’s opening match against England at 7pm on Wednesday 19 March. Chris Gunter’s side will then head to Hops & Barley Community Stadium in Rhyl for the remaining two matches, where they will face Portugal on Saturday 22 March (KO 5pm) and Türkiye on Tuesday 25 March (KO 7pm).

Ticket sales and distribution will be managed by the host venues, with the information confirmed in due course.

The matches will be available to view on S4C Clic, S4C and Sgorio’s YouTube channels and Sgorio’s Facebook page. There will be Welsh and English commentary for every game.

The three matches not involving Cymru will be played at the Deeside Stadium in Connah’s Quay and will be live streamed on the FAW’s streaming platform, RedWall+.

The U19s side is likely to feature several players that were involved in the 2023 UEFA U17 EURO finals, the first time a Cymru age group side had qualified for a major finals side since 1981.

The matches will also play a key part in the FAW’s preparations for the 2026 UEFA U19 EURO finals, which will be hosted in north Wales next June and July.

Cymru U19 Head Coach Chris Gunter said “It’s going to be a great experience for our players to be playing at this stage in the elite rounds. They deserve this opportunity from the results in November and to play in front of our own fans. We have an exciting group of players involved that have the aim to represent our National Team in years to come, and I’m excited to see the fans in north Wales come out in their numbers and support us.”

S4C Sports Commissioner Sue Butler added: “S4C is delighted to be covering this Under 19s Elite Round taking place in north Wales. Our commitment illustrates S4C’s continuing support for Welsh football across all levels of the game.”
